German M1918 Transitional
This is an example of the German transitional Stahlhelm. Formerly a WWI helmet this piece was issued once again after the Nazi's came to power in Germany and the Wehrmacht was expanding their army beyond the agreed upon number of 100.000 forces as stipulated by the threaty of Versailles. This particular piece bares the typical eagle and swastika symbol on the side. In comparison to the ww1 model the liner has received an upgrade (the M.31 model). Most of these helmets were used during the pre war years and during the start of wwII and at the very end of 1944/1945 when the Third Reich was struggling for it's survival.
