German M.42
This is an example of the German model 1942. It's the last mass produced example and further improvement of the classic Model 1935 which involved even lesser production processes then the M.35 and M40. This piece was badly damaged during battle as can be clearly observed by the entry and exit hole. It is unlikely that the original owner was able to tell the story afterwards. Some might consider this a controvercial piece as it was dug ground. I think that when this helmet was dug up and shown here on the website it serves the purpose of telling a story and showing as a reminder how gruesome the Eastern front and World war 2 in general was.
